Better CAD models
Applied, the UK reseller of Dassault Systémes, has become an accredited reseller of Q-Checker, the software and services that enable companies to achieve and maintain strict design and quality standards demanded by automotive and aerospace OEMs.

By automatically applying standards at the design phase, errors that were previously detected too late in downstream processes can be avoided at origin. Instantly detecting and eliminating geometry, structure, or methods errors, Q-Checker also checks compatibility with downstream processes, ensuring that 3D models fit the needs of the entire manufacturing process.

"Built-in learning helps designers understand and apply standards and rules" |
| Shaun Clark, MD of Applied |
Shaun Clark, managing director of Applied, said: “Major automotive OEMs including Honda, Daimler Chrysler Benz and Ford, as well as aerospace OEMs including Airbus, often insist that suppliers use Q-Checker to identify CAD errors at source rather than later in the production process where the costs of rectification are higher and more time consuming.
“Q-Checker has built-in learning applications that help designers understand, apply and maintain company standards and rules,” Clark continued. “And, because checks are made at every stage, mistakes are identified and corrected as they occur. This produces design productivity increases of at least 10% and consequent benefits for users, especially those in multi CAD and inter-company data exchange environments.
“A recent report found that more than 90% of all CAD models contain significant errors. Using Q-Checker these can be completely avoided at source, with the financial, productivity and business benefits from its implementation realised immediately,” concluded the MD.
