£20m investment creates skilled jobs

Doncasters Group, manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the aerospace and industrial gas turbine industries, is investing £16 million to expand the capabilities of its Blaenavon plant, creating 125 new, highly-skilled jobs. The investment will enable the Group to undertake post cast processing work in Wales that was previously sub-contracted to a specialist supplier.
Doncasters had evaluated the option of locating the new capability in Poland before opting for Blaenavon. The project will be supported by Assembly Government grant aid and the construction of purpose-built premises to house the new operations will begin in May.
This new project is in addition to a previous investment of £4 million for the development of the company’s engine ready components strategy. Doncasters currently employs 340 people in South Wales and serves the needs of gas turbine engine makers worldwide.
Core manufacturing processes include precision casting, forging, fabrication, machining and production of superalloys. Key products include turbine airfoils, rings & casings, structural castings, compressor airfoils, combustion components and fabrications & exhausts for application in gas turbine engines, aerostructures and components for airframe applications, compressor and turbine wheels for the speciality turbocharger market, and ranges of fastenings for construction, industrial, truck, recreational and military markets.
