Cutting edge for SMEs

WNT (UK)'s cutting tool service will now include an enhanced cost-effective cutter regrind and recoat service.
WNT (UK) supplies cutting tools and associated equipment to thousands of SMEs. It was with this core customer profile in mind that it launched its cost-effective cutter regrind and recoat service in 2000. Now, in response to the pressures being imposed on its customers it has enhanced the service.
Tony Pennington, Managing Director, WNT (UK) says: 'When we first launched the regrind and recoat service in the UK it was seen as supplementary to our main business of selling new cutting tools. However, as with all elements of our business we have kept this service under constant review and this has allowed us to identify subtle changes that were required in order to deliver the optimum service to our customers.'
The service covers drills, end mills and other solid carbide tooling in the WNT range, that are reground and recoated using the original geometries and high-performance coatings. The tool-life of the reground and recoated tools is normally at least 90% of the original tool. With immediate effect, for orders over £50 in value, the service will now include collection and delivery by UPS and customers are assured that their cutters will be returned within 10 days. WNT (UK) is backing up its confidence in the service by offering a £10 credit if it fails to meet its delivery promise.
Pennington says: 'Traditionally, it has been the responsibility of the user to get tools back to the supplier for regrinding. We have taken this additional burden away from them by arranging for UPS to collect the tools and return them within 10 days. All the customer now has to do is contact our Sheffield office and request a collection. We will do the rest.'
