Jemtech to represent Silmax range

Jemtech (UK) has announced an agreement with Silmax SpA to exclusively represent their complete product range throughout the UK.

“Silmax is an Italian manufacturer of high performance cutting tools with a reputation for high stock removal, high performance, HSS and powder steel roughing end-mills. However, this is just a small part of the Silmax product range, and whilst the full product range is little known in the UK, Silmax actually produce a comprehensive range of “Application-Specific” solid carbide end mills.

Jemtech milling image"These are well established globally as market leading products” says Alan Dalton, Jemtechs’ Technical Director who goes onto state “Contained within the modern factory in Turin, Silmax have an extensive R & D department that strives for continuous product improvement.

"This is targeted with producing and developing tooling and coating innovations to deliver much higher productivity for the end user. This could be higher feed rates meaning lower cycle times, longer tool life, improved surface finish or even just process security, all of which will reduce manufacturing costs.”

“Over the years, Silmax has successfully designed many different tool geometries, from the highest quality base materials, with the most advanced coatings. These are aimed at specific market sectors such as mould and die, aerospace, petrochemical, auto sport and medical. With the ability to machine exotic materials such as titanium, inconel, super duplex, stainless steels and hard tool steels with ease they have the solution to offer process improvements to even the most discerning engineer” claims Silmax Director Antonio Pini.

“The agreement will see Sussex-based Jemtech focus their attention on “Application-Specific” cutters primarily in the aerospace, mould, die, oil and gas sectors, areas where hard and tough materials are common and where the customer can easily achieve big productivity gains” states Steve Coull, Managing Director of Jemtech, who continues, “There are many cheap tools in the market place, also some very good ones, but rarely are there any very good cheap tools.

"We aim to show the customer that the real cost is in the machining time and by reducing this they will make huge savings, rather than just “buying on discount” which often results in much higher costs. All our tools are available on a payment by results basis, so if we don’t deliver the gains that we claim there is no charge to the customer.”

Concluding, Mr Dalton says, “We will promote the full Silmax product range; it is perfectly suited to our existing customers who are receptive towards innovative ways of reducing component costs, by improving productivity.”

Finally, Steve Coull remarked, “The majority of our sales force is from cutting tool backgrounds, most of whom are time-served engineers with programming and production experience, this gives us an overall understanding of what the end users are seeking to achieve and on how we can obtain our goals.”
