Vargus becomes Kennametal distributor

Tooling specialist Vargus Tooling UK has been appointed by Kennametal UK as its Master Distributor in the UK and Ireland for the world renowned Widia cutting tool programme.

The two companies have entered into an agreement which sees Vargus Tooling UK utilising its network of UK-wide partners and distributors to not only maintain but also improve the high level of support expected by the existing Widia user base.

In addition, the new-look Widia sales and support strategy "will undoubtedly also lead to increased sales of a tooling portfolio that, on a price-to-performance basis, is probably unmatched", says Vargus Tooling UK's general manager, Stuart Hogg.

Characterised by a comprehensive array of both inserts and solid tooling for turning, milling and drilling, the latest additions to the Widia catalogue are propagated by, for example, advanced PVD and CVD turning, and high-tech face and ball nose milling, as well as drilling solutions.

Importantly, the Widia programme is also particularly adept at being used for 'tooling system' solutions across many applications areas in all industry sectors.

Commenting on the agreement, Kennametal UK managing director, Randy Brown, said: "While Kennametal will continue to provide dedicated on-site service to a number of major Widia clients, predominantly in the automotive sector, our new partnership with Vargus Tooling UK will provide Widia users throughout the country with an unrivalled level of highly-responsive sales support and service.

"The Widia product range clearly generates market-leading savings, and with the help of Vargus, these benefits can only increase."

Stuart Hogg added: "Our agreement with Kennametal and its Widia programme perfectly complements our world-leading Vardex threading solutions programme, for example. Every company that generates threads also, of course, needs to create holes, so having such an extensive range of tooling readily available means customers now have the ultimate one-stop shop for a wide range of machining applications."

The first public display of the new partnership will be at the MACH 2008 exhibition, where the two companies will be working together to promote the Widia brand.
