NC Engineering becomes Citizen Machinery

The UK’s leading CNC sliding headstock automatic lathe specialist, NC Engineering, has changed its name to Citizen Machinery UK.

The change, in effect from 1st April, will mean that MACH 2008 will feature the company exhibition stand (5260) under its new name and livery. The decision to change the name follows the acquisition of the shares of NC Engineering in June 2006 by Citizen Machinery, following some 34 years representing the Citizen machine tool range in the UK and Ireland.

During that time, NC Engineering achieved a year on year market leading position by making well over half the total machine installations involved in this demanding high productivity machine tool sector. This was confirmed during 2007 when the Watford based operation achieved a market sector milestone by installing more than 100 machines in the UK.

Managing director Geoff Bryant said: “Being a subsidiary gives distinct advantages to customers as they are, in effect, dealing direct with the parent company. We now have clear lines of two-way communication with Citizen over all matters from machine development, right through to service and support.”

NC Engineering had become one of the most successful international dealers for Citizen following its appointment in 1974. With the name change the Watford-based operation has also been charged to support the English speaking Israel and South African territories, in addition to the UK and Ireland. The decision to change the name will not alter any operational strategies, or the day to day role of personnel based in Watford. With Mr Bryant at the helm, the company policy will be maintained; he will also have greater involvement in the European operations of Citizen and will be expected to contribute at the headquarters in Japan.
