SurTech at MACH

At MACH 2008 on Stand 4808 in Hall 4, Surface Technology Products (SurTech) will be exhibiting its Multihead Abrasive Belt Finisher.

Where most mechanical finishing operations require several stages to achieve the final result, the Multihead Belt Finisher can complete parts in one process saving production times and costs.

The SurTech Multihead finishers are available with two to six heads and whilst a machine with between 2 and 4 heads will suit the vast majority finishing processes, finishers with up to 6 heads are available for high production environments and specialist finishes.

SurTech Multihead finishersFor industry applications where large amounts of flat parts such as sheet, strip, extrusions and hollow sections require finishing, only a multihead machine can comfortably manage the surface area that requires polishing. Utilising the correct amount of polishing heads and fitting each with an increasingly finer belt enables the end user to complete parts with just one pass. This allows the SurTech Multihead machines to finish parts with a feed rate way beyond the capabilities of single head machines.

The throughfeed machines are available in working widths of 150mm, 200mm and 300mm to suit the exacting needs of the end user. To prevent component heat distortion, improve surface finish and extend belt life the finishers are generally run wet. To further enhance the surface finish of components the heads are available with 5kW to over 10kW motors with conveyors having a variable speed control from 1m/min to over 10m/min.

For parts with uneven surfaces or particular features the Multihead Abrasive Belt Finisher is available with floating heads with a constant contact pressure control.

Surtech Multihead Throughfeed Machines are available with optional extras such as motorised thickness settings, ammeters fitted to each head for control of contact pressures, oscillating belts for improved finishes and variable belt speeds.
